Parliament passes revised National Budget

Posted : 27.04.2015

Parliament yesterday passed the revised budget proposal tabled by government last month. The approval comes with slight adjustments where the budget has been revised upward by RwF 9.2 billion instead of RwF 6.4 billion as it had been proposed pushing the total budget resources to 1762.3 billion.

The RwF 2.7 billion increase is attributed to the grant provided by Sweden International Development Agency (SIDA) which came after the revised budget proposal had been tabled in parliament. The funds will be used to support National Employment Program through creation of additional job opportunities.

Initially while presenting the revised budget, the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Claver Gatete had proposed that the National budget be revised upward by RwF 6.4 billion to RwF 1759.6 billion from RwF 1753.3 initially approved by parliament in July 2014.

The approved financing adjustments will ensure implementation of the second Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS2) stays on track.
